AS/400 Education: COMMON POWERUp20 and Silveredge Consulting

February 25th, 2020

The spring thaw will be here before we know it, which means the COMMON POWERUp20 Conference is coming up soon! This year’s conference is in Atlanta, GA from April 20th through 23rd. Additionally, there will be preconference sessions on April 19th. This is a great opportunity for AS/400 education and networking!

Overview

Over 100 speakers will present over 350 sessions covering at least 20 areas to help your company leverage your investment in the AS/400 system and for you to advance your IT skills and career.  (Yes, we know that it is no longer the AS/400.  Problem is: search engines show everyone still searches on AS/400 rather than the re-names!)

There’ll be sessions covering areas to enhance your technical skills, such as: Application Development; Database;  Hardware; High Availability Resilience; IFS; IT Strategy; Java Language; Linux; Lotus Collaboration; Middleware; Mobile and Modernization; Open Source Languages; RPG; Security; Systems Management; Virtualization; and Web Applications.

Also, there will be courses to improve your “soft” skills, such as Client Connectivity, Developing Business Skills, IT Leadership and Management, Networking, and Personal Development. Focus on a single area or participate in sessions from multiple areas, whichever works best for you.

EXPO

All of this means this year’s EXPO will be more exciting than ever! EXPO is an incredible networking opportunity to meet with IBM i peers and vendors, including Silveredge. Stop by and say hi to Ambrose Marton, one of the owners of the firm.  It’s fun to pose tech questions to him!

Remember to stop by and register for our raffle, and let us know where we can help. Chances are – we’ve done that!

iNext. What’s next on i?

March 16th, 2016

At WMCPA this week, IBM hinted that 7.3 will be announced at COMMON in April. The new release will be focused on mobile, security, and big data. Expect a high availability component as well. IBM indicates the AS/400 operating system as originally delivered doesn’t really exist as it did; the operating system has been completely modernized since then.

Silveredge will see you in New Orleans. www.common.org
